Thanksgiving is such a heart-warming and special time of the year. We have so much to be thankful for in the Junior School. For those of you who were able to join us at the Harvest Festival Service this morning - thank you. It was a touching start to the holiday weekend, your daughters were simply amazing! They sang beautifully and behaved admirably, we're very proud of them all.
The food items that you so generously donated were brought to the North York Harvest Food Bank for distribution.Their mission is to provide dignified food assistance and support community members in northern Toronto. I am delighted to announce that thanks to your generous donations, our non-perishable food offerings weighed an astounding 1,320 pounds!
I also wish to inform you that Mrs. Ylita Garland will be retiring from her 14 year journey at Havergal College near the end of November. Mrs. Garland loves her career in the Junior School, and it is with mixed feelings that she joins her husband Chris, who retired during the summer. How do you replace a person like her? You don't! She is caring, organized, thoughtful, and deeply committed to everyone in the building. She will be dearly missed. We will be celebrating her and thanking her in the coming month, more details to follow - shhh! Don't tell Mrs. Garland!

PARENT/TEACHER CONFERENCES
October conference time to meet with your daughter's teachers is scheduled for Thursday, October 27 between 3:00-8:00 pm, and Friday, October 28 between 8:00 am - 3:00 pm. The scheduling site, Pick-A-Time opens on Wednesday, October 13 at 10:00 am, and closes on Wednesday, October 26 at 12:00 pm. Gator care is available on the Thursday evening until 6:00 pm, and there is no school or child care available on the Friday. Look for a separate email to follow with specific instructions about Pick-A-Time.
