Message From the Head of the Junior School - April 21, 2017

Dear JS Parents,

Earlier this week, two of our Junior School students Callia Newall (Gr. 5) and Olivia Zhang (Gr. 6) represented Havergal at a Speaking Competition hosted by Royal St. George’s College. Callia and Olivia spoke about travel and gender equality respectively.

We are proud to report that our girls did Havergal proud! Olivia Zhang placed in the top three with an honourable mention! Callia Newall was recognized by the judges for doing an exceptional job!

They, along with some JS students were part of the Public Speaking Club during Term 2. In addition to a variety of games and exercises designed to help students develop their speaking skills, students also experimented with writing speeches about topics of importance to them.

Some students, including Callia and Olivia opted to revise and polish their speeches and delivery in order to be considered for this annual public speaking competition .

This morning the Junior School had the pleasure of listening to both girls deliver their thoughtful and entertaining speeches in Prayers. The girls exhibited poise and clarity. Congratulations to them both and Thank you to Nancy Tulli for organizing the club and guiding the students along to the competition!

Warmly,
Leslie Anne

HAVERGAL COLLEGE PARENT SURVEY – YOUR OPINION MATTERS

At Havergal, we value the opinions of our parents and would like to hear from you as we consider future plans for the school. This past Wednesday an email was sent to every household with links to a parent survey. The survey will collect feedback on your family’s experience at Havergal and will inform initiatives as we move forward. There are separate surveys – one for  Junior School parents and one for Upper School  parents. (If you have daughters in both schools, you should have received two emails with the survey links).

If for any reason you did not receive the survey links, please email poffice@havergal.on.ca and we will send them to you. Thank you in advance for your time.
