Message from Head of Junior School - April 20, 2018

Dear Junior School Parents,

We have been exploring empathy in prayers over the last month.  Girls are being challenged to think of it as a skill, that just like math and literacy requires practice and reflection.  Rev. Douglas set the stage several weeks ago, when she invited us to think about the practical ways that we can develop this skill. These are: Looking and listening to others, imagining and connecting to experiences and feelings, and then responding with care.

We encourage you to engage in conversation with your daughter(s) this weekend by asking them the following questions.

  1. How did the message delivered in prayers today by Julia and her mother get you to think about what life with autism might feel like, and how it might affect the whole family?
  2. What experience helped the "Invisible Boy" in yesterday's story feel seen? When was a time that you felt invisible? What made you feel better or worse?
Sincerely,
Kate White

Please Note:
