Message from the Head of the Junior School - Friday, April 7, 2017

Dear JS Parents,

Spring is in the air, and we are delighted to see so many of our girls participating in co-curricular activities.  With over 100 girls on Athletic Teams, and 150 in clubs, it is easy to see that the HC experience extends far beyond the walls of the classroom.  Below are several quotes taken from some of our student participating in clubs and athletics this term:

"I like being in SIT because I get to investigate things that I am really interested in.  I've been doing it all year.  I asked the question 'Why do people sometimes bully each other?'  It doesn't make sense to me, but now I have learned that sometimes people feel bad about themselves, or don't even understand that it hurts people.  Next, I am excited to try and find ways to stop it." (Grade 3)

"I've been playing soccer since I was three. I get to exercise, learn to play the game, and now I am excited that I get to play with my friends at school." (Grade 3)

"I have never played softball before, but I am trying out for the team.  I am really enjoying getting to play, but don't know if I will make it." (Grade 6)

"I am in the Outdoor Adventure Club, and I love it!  We tried to find the end of the creek, and walked all the way from the Junior School to the Upper School but we couldn't find where it started or ended.  We had to look at a map inside to figure it out. I think next year this club should be Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday!" (Grade 1)

Warmly,
Leslie Anne
