Message from Head of Junior School - February 23, 2018

      Dear JS Parents,

What a wonderful week at the Havergal Junior School!  It was lovely to see so many families at the school yesterday for Parent-Teacher Conferences.  We love having the opportunity to speak with you about your daughters' learning, and sharing what is happening in the classrooms.  Our JS Swim Team participated in their final meet of the season, coming first amongst all of the girls' schools, and the bake-sale was the "icing on the cake" of an already fabulous day.

Today, our Primary and Junior Choirs set off to the Kiwanis festival, each earning the second prize in their division!  Finally, the students showed their Olympic spirit as they celebrated participants from countries all around the world.

      Sincerely,

      Kate White

      THANK YOU!!
Thank you to all our lovely Havergal JS Families for making this year’s Bake Sale such an incredible success!  The amazing involvement and support of our JS families resulted in a bake sale that exceeded our wildest expectations!   Families lovingly made and contributed a wide array of baked goods that were delightfully admired and quickly purchased by the girls and parents alike.  The “icing on the cake” were our awesome volunteers - parents and girls – who ran the sale all day.  We couldn’t have done it without you!  The sense of community in our JS hallway was truly heartwarming.  Thank you again for your support of our fabulous and record-breaking bake sale day at Havergal!  - The Havergal Bake Sale Team

      MABEL'S FABLES BOOK FAIR
      March 6 - 10, 2018

Why are we hosting a book fair when we can just buy books online or at Indigo?
      • Having a book fair is an opportunity for students to practice taking responsibility for their choices; managing money, and managing expectations.
      • Our library also directly benefits from a Book Fair, as 20% of all sales goes toward new books for the library.
What can you do to support your daughter?
      • During the week of the book fair, your daughter will have an opportunity to browse the fair and make a wish list. The wish list is a tool for your daughter’s decision-making process. When she brings it home, please have a conversation with her to help her make her choices. Please indicate on her wishlist what her choices are, and send the wishlist back to school with her. She will have time to shop with her class on Thursday or Friday.
      • This year we are asking that parents do not purchase books from their daughter’s wish lists until after she has had a chance to do so herself.
What if the book fair sells out of my daughter’s chosen books before her scheduled shopping time?
      • Mabel’s Fables will bring copies of any books that sell out to the school. This usually happens during the week after March Break.
Can I still purchase books myself from the Book Fair?
      • Yes, of course! If your daughter’s wish list is very long, or if you would like to make purchases for a special occasion or as a surprise, the book fair will be open from 8-4 on Thursday and Friday.
      • Mabel’s Fables accepts Visa, Mastercard, cash, or cheque made out to Mabel’s Fables. We can also charge purchases to your daughter’s account.
If you have any questions, please contact Erica Rodd at erodd@havergal.on.ca or by phone at 416-483-3843, extension 7544.

        HCPA NOMINATION LETTER

        Dear Havergal Parents,

The Nomination Process for the 2018-19 Havergal College Parent Association (HCPA) is now open!  This is your chance to join a dynamic team of parent leaders consisting of an equal balance of both Upper School and Junior School parents.  The mandate of the HCPA is to maximize parent engagement, to foster community spirit and support our social and fundraising initiatives.

While more positions will be announced in the following weeks, we are currently seeking nominations for three roles on the HCPA Executive team.  This team will consist of 6 parents and Havergal’s Executive Director of Advancement and the Manager of Community Relations.

The following three positions are available on the HCPA Executive Team: Vice Chair, Secretary and Communications Chair (new position). Please use the attached documents to submit a nomination form for yourself or someone else for any of these positions.  We strongly encourage all those interested to self-nominate!  If you have any questions and would like to reach a member of the HCPA Executive team, please send an email to hcpa.committee@gmail.com.

Thank you for your interest in the HCPA!
