Message from Head of Junior School - May 26, 2017

Dear JS Parents,

Summer break is just around the corner, only 12 more school days left in this school year!

This week we had plenty to celebrate in Havergal athletics!
On Tuesday, May 23, our girls headed to York University for their Track and Field Championships. It was a beautiful sunny day, and all of the participants did extremely well! We had many girls participating in the finals, and the Championship results will be posted soon!

On Wednesday, the Green and Gold softball teams traveled to The Country Day School to play in the championship tournament. Both teams put together all of their learning from over the course of the season to play their very best. At the plate, our hitters were poised and swung the bat with such ferocity that it left their coaches in awe. In the field, gloves were catching balls left, right, and center. In the end, neither team made it to the championship game, but they had a fun time playing against each other in the consolation championship game! Havergal Junior School softball is alive and well. A huge congratulations goes out to the teams for practicing hard all season and making tremendous progress as softball players.

Great job girls!

Warmly,
Leslie Anne Dexter

JK / HAVERPALS PICNIC - June 1st @ Lunch
  • This past December, the parents of our Junior Kindergarten students reached 100% class participation for the annual giving campaign. To celebrate this success, the JK students will be participating in an activity which is most meaningful to them, time with their Haverpals! On Thursday, June 1st, the JK girls will spend the lunch hour on the Cohen Field enjoying a picnic with their Grade 5 Haverpals. The girls will eat lunch together, enjoy a tasty Havergal dessert, and have the opportunity to chat and play games after lunch. Please cross your fingers for a warm, sunny afternoon!

GATOR DAY - June 2nd (1:00-3:00pm)
HC athletic wear, accessorized with House Colours
  • Havergal’s Junior School students have been playing in Sports Day since 1937. The spirit of Sports Day is alive with our current students, as it is now known and celebrated annually as Gator Day. The premise and purpose of the day remains the same, which is to come together for an afternoon of fun, sun, House pride and community. The afternoon includes our 10 House teams playing against each other in a variety of fun and physical activities, such as relay races. It is an exciting and healthy active way to end a busy term at the Junior School!
  • Girls are asked to bring in a water bottle, sunscreen, and hat.
  • Parents are welcome to attend!

LIBRARY BOOKS

  • It is almost the end of the school year, and that means that it is time to  begin returning library books. Books must be returned to the library by Friday June 2nd. Once books are returned and accounts for the year are cleared, students will be able to borrow books for the summer beginning Monday, June 5th. Lists are being sent home with students on an as-needed basis. If you would like a list of outstanding books, please email Erica Rodd at erodd@havergal.on.ca
